DESCRIPTION:Join the Hiwassee Blueway\, Tennessee Riverline Meigs Chamber and Spring City Rivertowns for a Partner Paddle + Celebration at the Cherokee Removal Memorial Park on May 13 from 10 am to 2 pm. This free paddle event is open to the community and intended for first time + seasoned paddlers to experience kayaking at the confluence of the Hiwassee and Tennessee Rivers.\n\n \n\nThis fun and informative event will begin with a group paddle launching from the Blythe Ferry boat ramp followed by a celebration at the Cherokee Removal Memorial Park with short presentations by hosting organizations. This is a great opportunity to learn about the Tennessee Riverline and the Hiwassee Blueway and their efforts to create more recreational opportunities in our region.\n\n \n\nThe Cherokee Removal Memorial Park will be open to the public with presentations by the Trail of Tears Association educating about the forced removal of the Cherokee People from their lands on the Trail of Tears. Food trucks will be on site offering lunch options for purchase. This event is open to all ages\, but paddling is best suited for ages 13+ with a participating adult.\n\n \n\nKayaks and paddleboards will be available to use free of charge (Limited quantities available). Experienced guides will be on hand to provide instruction and on-water support during the paddle.
